Hyderabad: While the Union govt is yet to extend financial assistance for the loss suffered by Telangana due to rain and flood fury, people have come forward to help the govt in its efforts.
Govt employees, industrialists, realtors, corporate hospitals, film personalities, private educational institutions, Communist Party of India (CPI) state unit, jewellers, and people from a cross-section of society have responded to the appeal made by chief minister A Revanth Reddy for donations to the CM Relief Fund.
Donations in the form of cheques to the CMRF have touched about Rs 230 crore as of date. Telangana govt has pegged the estimated loss at Rs 10,320 crore and a final report is likely to be submitted to the central govt soon.
The maximum donation so far has come from govt employees who have collectively given Rs 130 crore. Among individuals who have donated there is a girl studying in class 10 from Mahabubabad district who contributed Rs 3,000. From the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, deputy CM Pawan Kalyan donated Rs 1 crore
