Jaipur: Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday criticised Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments on reservations during his visit to the United States, stating that Congress had misled the public on this issue during the Lok Sabha elections but would not be able to do so in the upcoming polls. Vaishnaw made these remarks to the media in Jaipur on Tuesday, referring to Gandhi’s repeated accusations that the BJP intended to alter the reservation system by changing the Constitution.

Vaishnaw also criticised the UPA II govt for allocating only Rs 682 crores for railway development, compared to the Rs 9,960 crore sanctioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's govt. "Due to this substantial allocation, an important state like Rajasthan is witnessing rapid development in the railway sector," said the minister.
During his day-long visit, Vaishnaw met with chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to discuss the state’s role in expanding railway infrastructure and establishing new workshops.
“The CM discussed proposed projects in Rajasthan and emphasised the need for running more trains connecting religious sites between Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. The minister assured that his ministry would consider these suggestions,” according to a source.
