Secy: Develop basic facilities at anganwadi centres on priority
Jaipur: Secretary for women and child development department, Mahendra Soni, on Tuesday directed officials to ensure that basic facilities of building, water, electricity connection, and toilet at Anganwadi centres are developed on priority.
The secretary was conducting a monthly review meeting of district deputy directors of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).

Soni reviewed the progress report of the construction of newly approved buildings of the department. Out of the physical target of 749 new buildings, approval for 498 has been issued, 330 approved works are in progress, and work for 168 is yet to start. “Pending electricity connections at 26,981 Anganwadi centres should be completed as a campaign. Ensuring facilities and electricity connection at Anganwadi centres is a work of public interest,” said Soni.
Director ICDS, OP Bunkar, directed officials that where Anganwadis are being run in schools, other places, or rented buildings and there is no electricity connection, action will be taken based on proposals received from the districts.
In the meeting, districts like Churu, Jhunjhunu, and Baran were awarded for performing well in the departmental indicators for the month of August.
On eliminating malnutrition among children, for which the Poshan Maah is conducted in the month of Sept, Soni said that all information should be recorded on the Jan Andolan Dashboard. He was informed that with the uploading of 70.05% of the activities on the said dashboard by the state, Rajasthan is currently at number 8 at the national level.
