Handover of Lawrence's body may be delayed

Kochi: The handing over of CPM leader M M Lawrence's body for medical study purposes could be delayed as the procedures for settling disputes over donations are time-consuming.
Following a dispute between Lawrence's children, his body has been kept at the mortuary of Ernakulam Govt Medical College. Lawrence's daughter Asha M L protested against handing over the body to the college.His son, Sajeevan M L, decided to give the body saying it was the wish of Lawrence.
Asha moved the high court challenging Sajeevan's decision. Disposing of the petition, the court asked the medical college principal to decide on the issue. Until the principal takes a decision, the body should be kept at the mortuary of the medical college, the court ordered.
