KOLKATA: The CBI, investigating the alleged financial corruption at R G Kar Medical College, claimed that the four arrested persons accused in the case were part of a larger conspiracy at the hospital. The agency on Monday also claimed that the arrested persons might destroy evidence if released on bail.
Present at the special CBI court at Alipore on Monday, the CBI lawyer argued that four accused persons, including Sandip Ghosh, Biplav Singha, Afasar Ali Khan and Suman Hazra, are influential persons and might try to destroy evidence when released on bail.

The agency, which has seized several pieces of electronic evidence during consecutive searches, said that they have already been cloned. Images have also been copied for the investigation. The agency claimed that several incriminating pieces of evidence were retrieved from their mobile phones.
The accused persons were produced before the judge virtually on Monday. While Singha's lawyer moved a bail plea, the judge turned down the appeal and sent all four accused persons to judicial custody for 14 days.
Meanwhile, the CBI has approached the Sealdah ACJM court to defer the hearing on narco-analysis test of Sandip Ghosh and polygraph test of Abhijit Mandal to Sept 25.
Earlier, Ghosh had denied his consent to the narco-analysis test.
