Kozhikode: The search for the truck driven by Kozhikode native Arjun, who had gone missing after the Shirur landslide swept away the vehicle into the Gangavali river on July 16, did not yield any result on the fourth day of the search using a dredging vessel on Tuesday.
Though a red alert for heavy rainfall was declared in Uttara Kannada district on Tuesday, the dredging team continued their search in the spots in the river where presence of metal objects was found in the scanning conducted by Navy and also using drone-based intelligent buried object detection (IBOD) technology.
In the morning, the search was held at the CP3 location and in the afternoon search was held at the CP4 location. Major general (retd) M Indrabalan who had led the IBOD-based search in July showed the locations to the dredging team.
Though some metal parts, believed to be of the tanker truck which had reportedly fallen into the river in the landslide, were found in the search, no parts of Arjun's truck were recovered in the search on Tuesday.
Jithin, the brother-in-law of Arjun, said that they are now pinning their hopes on the search at the CP4 location. "The district administration had said that they will continue their search for 10 more days," he said.
