Dindigul: A day after a Theni-based nursing student claimed she was kidnapped and sexually abused by a gang in Dindigul, superintendent of police A Pradeep clarified on Tuesday that no such incident had occurred. Police investigation revealed that no kidnapping or
gang rape took place, the SP said in a statement. He added that the girl filed a false complaint due to mental distress.
The second-year nursing student from Uthamapalayam had claimed that she left for college from her house on Monday and got off a bus at Theni old bus stand.
When she went to use the wash room there, she was kidnapped by a gang in a car and gang-raped, before being abandoned at Dindigul railway station, she said. She then filed a complaint with all-woman police in Dindigul following which a kidnapping and gang rape case was registered. The woman was also admitted to Dindigul govt medical college hospital for medical examination.
