He was married to Selvi, 34. The couple had two sons. They frequently quarrelled. On Monday night too, Perumal and Selvi fought when the latter was cooking. During the altercation, she poured the boiling oil on him in a fit of rage. Hearing Perumal's screams, neighbours rushed him to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital. However, Perumal died, not responding to the treatment on Tuesday.
Tirunelveli Taluk police filed a case of suspicious death after Selvi claimed that Perumal, who was in an inebriated state, poured oil on his head during the quarrel. But Perumal's mother, Pechiammal, 75, who is living in the same village, filed a police complaint at Taluk police stating that Selvi murdered her son by pouring hot oil on him.
So, police conducted an investigation. During interrogation, Selvi confessed to the crime. Police arrested Selvi on murder charges. Further investigating is on.
