Human rights activist passes away
Mangaluru: Patrick B D'Sa, who was involved in human rights and civil liberties issues and was a past national vice-president of PUCL, passed away on Tuesday. He was 83. Throughout his life, PB D'Sa was renowned for his unwavering dedication to social activism, and his tireless efforts to assist those in need. In a final act of generosity, he chose to donate his body to medical research and education, hoping to contribute to the advancement of human knowledge and well-being, even after his passing away.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no religious rituals, flowers, or bouquets. Instead, D'Sa had requested that those who would have sent such tokens of remembrance consider making a donation to a social cause that resonates with them, ensuring that his legacy of service to humanity lives on.
Through People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL), one of India's oldest and largest human rights organisations, D'Sa was involved in various activities. D'Sa was the son of the late John FM D'Sa and the late Pauline Rego, and the husband of Winifred D'Sa. He is survived by children Prem, Preethika, Priya, and Praveen, as well as grandchildren.
