Man run over by bus

Udupi: A man died after being hit by a bus, while standing near his car door on Monday evening. The deceased is Nasir Siddiq. According to a complaint filed by Mohammad Ammar from Bhatkal, he, along with his wife and mother-in-law, had travelled to a private hospital in Mangaluru using Nasir Siddiq's car. On their return journey around 8.45pm, near the Arate bridge on National Highway-66 in Kundapur, they heard a noise coming from the front of the car.
Nasir, who was driving, stepped out to check the issue. As he was about to get back into the car, a bus driven by Manjunath, allegedly speeding and driving recklessly, hit Nasir, who was standing next to the car door. The impact caused him to fall onto the road, suffering severe head injuries.
Despite being rushed to the Kundapur Govt Hospital, Nasir was declared dead by the attending doctor. A case has been registered at Gangolli police station.
