2 cops suspended for taking bribes to manipulate assault case
Meerut: Two sub-inspectors were suspended on Saturday night for their alleged involvement in taking a bribe in an assault case.
According to the FIR, a copy of which is with TOI, "The sub-inspector Vikram Singh and trainee sub-inspector Archana Shakti both were involved in framing a scenario and taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 to manipulate an alleged assault case."
Senior superintendent of police (Meerut), Vipin Tada said, "I have suspended both the officers and further probe is on."
Complainant Imran Chauhan said, "I have been falsely framed as an accused in an assault case, while the actual matter pertains to a kids' scuffle.

The investigative officer Shakti learnt that I had been falsely framed, and despite that, she was pressuring me to meet Singh and bribe him to get my name removed from the FIR. I approached the anti-corruption department with my concern."
The anti-corruption department staged a trap, nabbed the accused red-handed, and handed them over to the Civil Lines police.
Senior official Archana (who goes by her first name) at anti-corruption department filed a complaint at Civil Lines police station following which both have been booked under section 7 (Public servant taking gratification other than legal remuneration in respect of an official act), section 13 (2) (Any public servant who commits criminal misconduct), and section 13-1 (b) (intentionally enriches himself illicitly during the period of his office) of Prevention of Corruption Act.
