Mysuru: District in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa on Monday announced that streets, circles, and junctions will be illuminated for three weeks as part of the Dasara celebration. A total of 130km of lighting will be done, covering 100 circles and junctions, and about 65 silhouettes of important personalities will be created.
After releasing posters of Dasara lighting at the CESC office on Monday, district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa said, "The Dasara lighting will be there for 21 days, and the cost is estimated at Rs 6.5 crore, with an estimated usage of 242,012 units of electricity."
Drone show
"For the first time, a drone show has been organised along with the Dasara lighting.
Using around 1,500 drones equipped with LED bulbs, amazing designs will be created in the sky. The drone show will take place on Oct 6, 7, 11, and 12 from 8pm to 8.15pm, with viewing arrangements made at Bannimantap Parade Grounds. Entry to the drone show on October 6 and 7 will be free," he said.
Electric chariot procession
During Dasara 2024, an electric chariot decorated with lights will be created to provide information on the duties of power linemen, solar power pumpsets for agricultural use, electricity safety, and the govt's guarantees. This chariot will be inaugurated on Oct 3 and will be displayed on major roads and circles in Mysuru for the 10 days of the Dasara Navratri," the minister detailed.
CESC president Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, an MLA, stated, "Along with the Dasara lighting, a drone show is being conducted this year. The show, managed by a company that has performed drone shows in Varanasi and Haridwar, will feature 10-15 designs. The corporation has taken all measures to conduct this year's Dasara lighting differently, with a focus on safety."
