Mysuru: In a surprising turn of events, the flight of pigeons, which is not served food at the north gate of the Mysuru Palace, is now invading the territory of the Dasara elephants housed at the palace premises.
This intrusion has become a source of concern for forest department officials, mahouts, kavadis, and especially the Dasara elephants. The pigeons can be seen swooping down near the elephants, searching for food.
The elephants appear visibly disturbed by the presence of the pigeons and have been observed chasing them away.
Elephant handlers have also been seen actively trying to force the pigeons to leave the area, as their presence could potentially cause health issues for the elephants. The department is now seeking a solution to this problem, recognising that failing to address it could make it challenging to maintain the elephants' well-being.
Forest officers have declined to comment on the arrival of pigeons in the area where the elephants are kept inside the palace.
