Nashik: The city police took preventive action against three people, including an accused in a case of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, after they shared a reel on a social media platform that showed the drug case accused proudly coming out of jail and receiving huge reception from his supporters.
A senior police officers said the accused in the drug peddling case and his two associates were brought to the police station and a written apology was taken from them, and they were made to upload it on the same social media account.
"Last month, we had arrested 26-year-old Chetan Yadav for possessing 19 grams of mephedrone (MD) drug. Subsequently, he was sent to judicial custody. On September 18, he managed to secure bail and was released from the Nashik Road jail," the officer said.
When he came out of jail, he was given a grand welcome by some of his supporters and it was followed by a bike rally. After the reel went viral, the police traced the trio and brought them to the police station.
