Techie Loses Rs 23 Lakh in Online Share Trading Fraud

Pune: A software engineer (35) from Marunji near Hinjewadi lost Rs23 lakh in an online share trading fraud between July and August.
The victim had first filed a complaint application with the cybercrime cell of the Pimpri Chinchwad police. After preliminary investigations, a case was registered with the Hinjewadi police on Wednesday.
An officer from the Hinjewadi police said the victim came in contact with the crooks through a social media platform."They offered him handsome returns on investments and took money from him online on different occasions. Within 30 days, he transferred Rs23 lakh to the crooks," the officer said.
The victim used his two bank accounts and also his wife's account to transfer the money. The investigating officer said the police had sought details of transactions from the bank of the victim and that of his wife.
