Pune: The Wakad police on Tuesday arrested two construction workers in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man in Thergaon on Sept 9.
The main suspect, Balu Sarkale (34), was taken into custody from Beed, while his accomplice, Narhari Paradhe (50), was arrested from the Pimpri Chinchwad area. The deceased, identified as Ali Ansari, was a painting worker.
"The duo bludgeoned Ansari to death with a cement block following an altercation after consuming alcohol," senior inspector NB Kolhatkar of the Wakad police said.
Kolhatkar, while talking to TOI, said Ansari's body was found on the footpath near a petrol pump in Thergaon. "Ansari had come to Thergaon with the two suspects for consuming liquor followed by the altercation after which the crime was committed," the officer said.
