Raipur:
Congress in Chhattisgarh has announced plans to organise a 125-km foot march called "Chhattisgarh Nyay Yatra" from Giroudpuri, Baloda Bazar to Raipur. The six-day march, scheduled from Sept 27 to Oct 2, aims to address the state's ‘detoriating' law and order situation and spread the message of Baba Guru Ghasidas, a revered saint and social reformer from Chhattisgarh, who founded the Satnami sect.
The yatra will conclude on Gandhi Jayanti at Gandhi Maidan in Raipur.
During a press conference, Congress state president Deepak Baij, leader of opposition Charan Das Mahant, former minister Shiv Kumar Dahariya, and Guru Rudrakumar expressed concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state under the nine-month rule of the BJP govt. They cited incidents such as the Baloda Bazar collectorate arson and the recent violence, arson, and murder in Kabirdham as examples of the govt's failure to maintain peace.
Baij emphasised that justice will only be served when murder cases are registered against the police officers and employees involved in these incidents. He stated, "It is the responsibility of the court to punish the culprit but unfortunately the state govt is trying to play the part of the court here," alleged Baij. The Congress party is in contact with their national leadership, and they expect a national-level leader to participate in the Chhattisgarh Nyay Yatra to highlight the state govt's shortcomings in maintaining law and order, and to spread Baba Guru Ghasidas' message.
