RAIPUR: The Maoist organizations in past 20 years have lost 5249 insurgents across the country, that includes 1000 women cadres, the central committee of
Communist Party of India (Maoists) in its 25-page booklet released in red ink accepted that the heightened aggression of police forces has notably weakened the insurgent organizations.
With the release date of Aug 25, the central committee of Maoists has outlined the gains and losses experienced over the period between 2004 and 2024.
According to their report, 22 high-ranking insurgents have been killed, including eight members of the ‘Politburo’. Additionally, the casualties include 48 SZC (Special Zonal Committee) members, 14 RC (Regional Committee) members, 167 DVC (District Committee) members, 26 Sub-Zonal Committee members, 505 ACM (Area Committee) and PPC (Platoon Committee) members, 887 PLGA (People's Liberation Guerrilla Army) members, and 3,596 fighters.
The booklet also details the impact of the insurgency on state forces including that of Chhattisgarh. It reports that 4073 incidents of violence took place between Burkapal and Tahkawada in Bastar, and extending into Maharashtra, Odisha, and Jharkhand, resulting in the deaths of 3,090 soldiers and causing injuries to 4,077 others.
Maoists have looted 2,365 modern weapons and 119,682 rounds of ammunition, claiming that it boosted their arsenal and strengthened their forces. The note read that 261 soldiers were killed between 2021 and 2024, with 516 wounded, and 25 modern weapons stolen.
The insurgents’ booklet also highlights the challenges being posed before them due to extensive presence of security forces, and the cordon, search, and kill tactics, significantly disrupting insurgent operations and leads to difficulties for the cadres.
They stated that the aggressive stance of the police has led to a rise in surrenders among their ranks. The insurgents concede that they have struggled to mount a robust defense against the intensified operations. Yet, they have planned to observe their 20th anniversary from September 21 to October 20, despite the ongoing challenges.
