‘Delhi Chalo Padyatra’ reaches Sundernagar
Kullu: The ‘Delhi Chalo Padyatra’ of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk reached Sundernagar in Mandi district on Sunday.
Wangchuk, along with more than 100 volunteers, were greeted by the locals, activists and environmentalists in Sundernagar. Talking to the mediapersons, Wangchuk said protecting the Himalayas from the impacts of climate change was the need of the hour.

“It’s not the sole duty of the people of mountains to save the Himalayas but those from the plains also have the equal responsibility. The mountains are being exploited for fulfilling the growing needs of those who live in the plains, whether it’s in the form of hydro projects or cement units,” said Wangchuk.
The ‘Delhi Chalo Padyatra’, which started on Sept 1, in support of the long-pending demand of the people of Ladakh for complete statehood, is scheduled to culminate in Delhi on Oct 2, after covering a distance of around 1,000 km.
