She alleged that three IPS officers harassed her with a false case. Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case against Vidya Sagar, former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, Kanti Rana Tata, the then DCP Vijayawada Vishal Gunni, and two other police officers.
Contending the case against him, Kanti Rana moved the high court seeking anticipatory bail. Arguing on behalf of him, senior counsel S Sriram said that the DGP sought a report from the Vijayawada police commissioner on the involvement of IPS officers. Based on the report submitted by the commissioner, the DGP recommended action against the IPS officers and subsequently, the chief secretary suspended them from service.
As the police have already included the petitioner as accused in the case, Sriram said that there is every chance that the petitioner may be arrested. As the petition for anticipatory bail will become infructuous, he sought interim relief pending disposal of the petition. Arguing on behalf of state govt, advocate general Dammalapati Srinivas sought time to get the details of the case as the petition has come for hearing for the first time. He said that he has no information on whether the petitioner was included as accused or not. However, Srinivas said that the report submitted by the commissioner suggested that the petitioner had given oral orders to book flight tickets to go to Mumbai on Jan 31, but the complaint on her was received on Feb 2.
Srinivas further said that the petitioner did not even give his passport to his subordinates as per the procedure to visit Mumbai for arresting the actress. As prima facie involvement is established, he sought time for submitting the latest details pertaining to the case and pleaded not to give any interim relief.
