Vijayawada: The state govt on Tuesday filled 86 nominated posts, including chairmen to 20 different corporations. This is the first tranche of filling up of nominated posts.
Chief minister
N Chandrababu Naidu has been working on filling nominated posts for some time, and the first list of chairmen was released on Tuesday.
The chief minister followed social equations by giving importance to BCs, SCs, and STs.
He also gave due representation to alliance partners
Jana Sena and BJP. While Jana Sena got three chairman posts,
BJP got one. Functionaries of both parties also found place among the members.
However, out of 20 corporations, members were appointed to only eight.
Naidu also gave importance to candidates who missed the chance to contest the recent elections because of the TDP's alliance with Jana Sena and BJP.
Konakalla Narayana, former MP from Machilipatnam, was appointed as chairman of
Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), with PS Muniratnam from Chittoor district appointed as vice-chairman. Ramaraju from Undi assembly constituency, who sacrificed his seat for K Raghu Ramakrishna Raju even after his name was announced as the candidate, was given APIIC chairman's post.
Similarly, former ministers Pithala Sujatha, Peela Govind, Damacharla Sathya, Abdul Aziz, and Pilli Manikyala Rao were appointed as chairmen of various corporations.
Apart from the appointment of chairmen, members were also appointed to eight corporations.
Naidu gave importance to grassroots level workers who toiled for the party in the appointment of members to the corporations. Naidu also ensured regional and caste representations in filling up the nominated posts. While BCs have got the lion's share of the posts, SCs, STs, and minorities have also been given due representation.
As the demand for nominated posts is huge, Naidu is working on finalising the names for some other corporations.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board is yet to be constituted. Positions in key corporations like AP Digital Corporation, Andhra Pradesh Fibernet, APMDC, and other corporations also need to be filled up.
