VIZIANAGARAM: Preparations for the annual Sirimanotsavam of Goddess Pyditalli in Vizianagaram are in full swing, with district officials gearing up to accommodate the needs of approximately five lakh devotees expected to attend the celebrations on October 15. The arrangements will be further expedited following the 'Pandirata', the traditional commencement of the festivities, scheduled for September 20.
The Tolella utsavam of Goddess Pyditalli, the presiding deity of Vizianagaram, will take place on October 14, followed by the Sirimanotsavam on October 15.
Other events include the Teppotsavam, a float festival at Pedda Cheruvu on October 22, the Vuyyala Kambala Utsavam on October 29, and the Chandihomam on October 30.
To ensure public safety and deter anti-social elements, the district officials have decided to install around 80 CCTV cameras, all of which will be connected to the command control center. The police department is focusing on the security aspect to ensure a smooth celebration. Currently, there are CCTV cameras at Vanamgudi near the Railway Station and Chadurugudi at Muudu Lantherla Junction. In addition to the 60 CCTV cameras installed for last year's celebrations, 20 more will be added this year.
District Collector Dr. BR Ambedkar and Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal have decided to place CCTV cameras at Muudu Lantharlu, Kota Junction, and both sides of Kota (Fort), along the route taken by the Sirimanu. The installation of the cameras is expected to begin on September 25 and will be connected to the Command Control Center within five days. The cameras will be positioned along the stretch of Hukumpeta, Pucchalaveedhi, Ulli Veedhi, Kanyaka Parameswari temple to Ganta Stambham, Gantastambham to Chadurugudi, and from there to Kota (Fort), Kota Buruju, MR College Stadium road, Muudu Lantharlu center to Gangastambham road, and Railway Station road.
