Rajkummar Rao and
Shraddha Kapoor starrer 'Stree 2' became a commercial success, with the film nearly crossing Rs 700 crore worldwide after its release in theaters on August 15. This movie also created waves on the internet for
Tamannaah Bhatia's graceful moves in the song 'Aaj Ki Raat'. Director
Amar Kaushik discussed incorporating feminist themes in the song to enhance the plotline.
In a chat with Hindustan Times, Amar Kaushik expressed his belief that an "item number" can effectively align with the film’s message and advance the narrative.
He emphasized that it's possible to create a "masala film" featuring an item song with meaningful lyrics. Kaushik is committed to delivering a "full package" in his big-budget projects, combining entertainment with substance.
The director highlighted the importance of clarity in conveying the film's message, acknowledging that audiences enjoy item songs in theaters. However, he stressed the need for quality and respectfulness in these songs, ensuring they align with the storyline of his horror-comedy film. "Logon ko lagta hai item song hai toh gande bol hi hone chahiye" (People think item songs should have vulgar lyrics), he added. But he wanted it to be entertaining and fit the film with meaningful lyrics.

He further explained that he clearly instructed his team to avoid inappropriate content, as the film's theme does not support such material. He emphasized the importance of political correctness in filmmaking, stating that while the expressions and delivery should be impactful, the lyrics should carry deeper meaning that resonates with the audience upon reflection.
When asked if he was worried that the item number might overshadow the film's message, Amar humorously noted that expressing it like a spiritual song would not attract an audience. He acknowledged that while the song is entertaining, those willing to engage with the film will still grasp its deeper meaning.
