Tanishaa Mukerji has often found herself being compared to her sister Kajol, one of Bollywood’s most celebrated actresses. In a candid interview with Indian Express, Tanishaa reflected on how these comparisons shaped her career and the challenges they brought.
Tanishaa shared that she was frequently measured against Kajol’s remarkable achievements in the film industry.
She acknowledges that while she did her best, she could never match her sister's level of success. The constant comparisons, she reveals, placed undue pressure on her to meet unrealistic expectations, often overshadowing her individual journey in Bollywood. Despite having a more modest filmography compared to Kajol, Tanishaa remains optimistic, embracing her experiences and standing firm in her belief in individuality.
Reflecting on her journey, Tanishaa shared, “These things don’t bother me. I don’t compare myself to my sister or other actors. Every actor has their own journey. Yes, my career wasn’t as successful as Kajol’s, but she started at 16, and I benefited from the privileges her success brought me. I had a comfortable career, and for that, I’m grateful. I think the world loves to compare, but I don’t live in that space.”
Tanishaa also emphasized the importance of self-esteem and staying grounded despite societal pressures and public opinions. Her reflections shed light on the unique challenges faced by individuals born into famous families, particularly in the world of entertainment.
