NEW DELHI: Union home minister
Amit Shah on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Congress-NC alliance and the People's Democratic Party (
PDP), accusing the Gandhi, Mufti, and Abdullah families of keeping Jammu and
Kashmir "burning in the fire of terror" for 35 years.
Shah addressing a rally in said that
terrorism can not enter the union territory again, no matter how hard these three families try.
"Jammu and Kashmir was burning in the fire of terror for 35 years under the rule of these three families: the Gandhi family, Mufti family, and the Abdullah family. Curfew was imposed in Kashmir for 3 thousand days, 40 thousand people, and many army personnel were killed... Prime Minister Modi has buried terrorism under the ground. Today I want to tell these three families that try as hard as you can, even your third generation cannot bring back terrorism," Shah said.
"The NC has released an agenda that is being supported by Rahul Gandhi's
Congress party. Do you agree with this? The NC has said that they will bring a separate flag instead of the tricolor, they will restore Article 370, and they will hold talks with Pakistan. Do you agree with these statements?" he added.
Taking a toll on the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, he said that his vision was supported by the Pakistan defense minister and Farooq Abdullah.
"They should be ashamed of the fact that the person responsible for Pakistan's defence is endorsing their agenda," he said.
He further labled Congress as 'anti-Dalit and said, "Rahul Gandhi and Congress are anti-Dalit. They did not give Bharat Ratna to Ambedkar ji for years, and they did not respect him. But the BJP honored that great man by establishing five places related to Ambedkar ji as 'Panchteerth.' If you bring back Congress or NC, you will bring back the reign of terror in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress has always supported corrupt people. Their candidate from Akhnoor has also faced corruption allegations from the CBI."
He also said that their government will not only provide reservation to the Pahari, Gujjar, and Bakarwal communities in jobs but also in promotions.
"Your one vote will always boost the morale of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. Your one vote will protect the rights of women. Your one vote is to ensure that the reservation for SC, ST, OBC, and Pahari Gujjar brothers continues forever. Your one vote is to give a strong response to Pakistan," he said.
"This election is not just crucial for Jammu and Kashmir, but for the entire country. Since independence, there were two flags and two constitutions here, and it was for the elimination of these that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee sacrificed his life. On August 5, 2019, Modi ji abrogated Article 370, and Jammu and Kashmir became a part of India. After that, this is the first election being held here," Shah said.
