Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase share some chemistry built way back in their college days with LSU, and they had been carrying it on into the Cincinnati Bengals. So far, it hasn't translated into success in the first two weeks of this season. All of that changed in Week 3 against the Washington Commanders. It was Chase's first receiving touchdown of the season, but otherwise, he was having a party dancing with Bengals fans as Cincinnati took possession of the ball for the first time.
Opinions on the show were mixed on social media, with some heralding it as a perfect example of why Chase remains an important member of the roster and why he was deserving of the new deal that he has been seeking. Others were more cynical, stating that the Commanders simply don't appear to be one of the better teams in the league and that more consistent performance needs to be displayed on that end before the value he brings is justifiable.

How NFL Players InvestThough the jury remains divided, Burrow and Chase have indeed emerged as a lifeline for the Bengals through the quarterback wideout connection. On his 100th career touchdown pass, the target was appropriately made in Chase, who says a lot for this well-oiled connection which has driven the team to their recent successes of two consecutive AFC Championship appearances and Super Bowl run.
This duo has indeed been comforted for the team with Burrow ever since the Cincinnati Bengals began the season on an adverse note with losing two games in succession to the Patriots and Chiefs.
It was an uphill battle for the team to come back from where it was at, and getting that first touchdown early set the tone of the game. But the Commanders quickly countered with two touchdowns of their own that shook up the Bengals' status quo. Curiously, this collision between two former LSU Heisman-winning quarterbacks made Washington's Jayden Daniels a high-profile feature for the game.
Overall, the game appears to encapsulate what it needs for Burrow-Chase to be a staple combination for the Bengals to get this season back on track. Nonetheless, it appears that what Bengals have been doing against Washington is the correct response; however, consistency appears to be the way forward if the Bengals hope to do so again.
