Ishaan Khatter. He recently opened up about the extensive casting process for the series, revealing that it spanned five months. This period of meticulous selection began in August 2023 and concluded only in January or February 2024, underscoring the significance of the roles within the series.
In an interview with Mid-day, the 'Mismatched' actor noted that the casting process was not just lengthy but also deeply engaging.
"It was a long casting process [that began] in August-September 2023 and things got finalized only in January or February," he explained. Samat's role is described as sensitively written, and initial discussions focused on character development and narrative direction. This thoughtful approach highlights the creators' commitment to crafting a compelling story.
'The Royals' is set against the backdrop of Indian royalty and features a star-studded cast, including Zeenat Aman, Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, and others. The series is produced by Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy and aims to blend romance with the allure of royal life.
Filming took place in Rajasthan's opulent palaces, which contributed to the show's grandeur.Samat shared that it was only during production that he fully grasped the scale of the project. "The realization sunk in only when we were on the set. I remember we were shooting a scene depicting a grand event, and I was just looking around the set while the crew was readying the shot," he recalled. The visual splendor of red walls and regal costumes left him in awe, prompting him to question, "Where am I?"
