Prime Minister of the UK, Keir Starmer, has introduced a new kitten named
Prince to Downing Street. As per the Standard, the Siberian cat was seen on the prime minister's desk before Labour's party conference.
Starmer shared that the family chose Prince after "long summer negotiations," despite his children wanting a German shepherd. The new kitten joins their existing cat Jojo and Larry, Downing Street's longtime Chief Mouser.
Prince's name, announced on September 8, remains unclear whether it's inspired by the singer or royalty.
The kitten has reportedly helped the Starmer family adjust to life in Downing Street.
Sir Keir Starmer stated, "I have to acknowledge this is a big move for them and therefore negotiating a fantastic kitten called Prince was part of the deal that they extracted from me."
Concerns about the impact of this change on his children were noted by Starmer before the election. Plans are being made by Downing Street on how to announce the eventual passing of Larry.
Larry is well-known for patrolling the area and sometimes confronting local wildlife. His interactions with the Foreign Office cat, Palmerston, and other animals have previously made headlines.
The dynamic between Larry, Prince, and Mojo, the Starmers' cat, remains to be seen.
