Man kills son, critically injures wife in axe attack
Agra: A 30-year-old man attacked his wife during an argument, critically injuring her, and killed their two-year-old son with an axe before fleeing Jematpur village, under the jurisdiction of Nagla Khangar police station in Firozabad district, on Monday.
Police said Narendra Kumar, who worked in Delhi. His wife, Renu (26), and their son, Kittu, had recently returned to the village with him.
Around 11 p.m. on Monday, a dispute between the couple escalated, and Narendra assaulted Renu with an axe, leaving her unconscious and covered in blood. Believing she was dead, he then attacked and killed their son before fleeing.
Villagers, hearing the commotion, rushed to the scene and alerted the police. They took the victims to the hospital, where Kittu was pronounced dead, and Renu was transferred to Agra for further treatment.
Inspector Girish Kumar, who inspected the crime scene, said, "We have asked the woman's father to file a formal complaint. She has been referred to SN Medical College in Agra. We are actively searching for the accused, who remains at large." The child's body was sent for a post-mortem.
