CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: Four people died in a head-on collision when a truck rammed into their car on the Ambejogai-Latur road in Beed district around 1am on Sunday.
Police said the truck driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with the car coming from the opposite direction. He fled the spot, police said. Rains earlier had made the road slippery.
Assistant inspector Rajkumar Sasane, of the Bardapur police station in Beed, said, "The truck driver suddenly changed lanes and dashed into the car coming from the opposite side.
The car driver and passenger sitting in the front seat were crushed to death on the spot. The two passengers sitting behind were declared dead when they were taken to a nearby hospital."
All four were from Jagalpur village of Latur's Chakur taluka. They have been identified as Atmaram Banapure, 51, Madhav Khalangare, 54, Saudagar Kamble, 46, and Shivraj Domb, 48. The Bardapur police have registered an offence under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
