Bhopal: A woman from Habibganj was allegedly trafficked to
Rajasthan by her co-workers and sold to a man for marriage. The police have rescued the woman and arrested four accused, including three women and the buyer. The accused have been charged with kidnapping,
human trafficking and
rape under various sections.
Police said that the 25-year-old woman, a resident of Habibganj, worked as a cook for weddings and events.
Her co-workers, identified as Chhaya Deshmukh (40), Pooja Dhanak (30), Santosh Bhalerao (42) and Santosh's husband Manoj Bhalerao, lured her with promises of work in Rajasthan a few months ago. The woman accompanied the group to Rajasthan.
Police said that once there, the four accused coerced her into marrying a man identified as Devilal Garg (30) in Rajsamand city in Rajasthan, in exchange for a large sum of money. After the forced marriage, Devilal allegedly began sexually exploiting the woman. When the woman did not return home for several days, her mother filed a missing person's complaint at Habibganj police station.
Following an investigation, the police successfully tracked down and rescued the missing woman from Rajasthan. Based on the woman's statement, the police arrested Devilal Garg, Chhaya Deshmukh, Santosh Bhalerao, and Pooja Dhanak. Further investigations are on.
