Dehradun: During a review meeting of the disaster management and rehabilitation department, chief minister
Pushkar Singh Dhami directed officials to ensure pothole-free roads in the state by Oct 15. He directed municipal corporations, municipal councils, and nagar panchayats to pay special attention to the repair and cleanliness of internal routes.
Dhami said, "Work should be done on a war footing to improve the situation in all areas affected by heavy rains in the state.
Department heads must conduct physical verification and review the work." He added, "The roads that are currently closed should be made operational as soon as possible. Arrangements should be made for permanent treatment of roads in disaster-prone areas."
A total amount of Rs 427.8 crore has been allocated for protection from natural disasters in the financial year 2024-25. Of this, Rs 386.8 crore has been released from the state disaster relief fund, Rs 15 crore from the state sector reduction item and Rs 26 crore from the state sector non-SDRF item. An additional amount of Rs 95 crore is being handed to the departments for the restoration and rehabilitation of the state disaster relief fund. For this, Rs 50 crore is being given to the Public Works Department, Rs 15 crore to Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Rs 20 crore to the drinking water corporation, and Rs 10 crore to Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL).
