Gurgaon: Around 53,000 first-time voters have been added to electoral list across four assembly constituencies in Gurgaon since Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, data by district administration shows.
Deputy commissioner and district election officer Nishant Kumar Yadav said on Monday that the number of voters in Gurgaon, Pataudi, Badshapur and Sohna was 14.51 lakh in May.
It has gone up to 15.04 lakh this month.
"Before the nomination process for assembly elections began, youths were given the chance to register on the voter portal till Sept 2. As a result, the district saw an increase of over 53,000 voters," Yadav said.
Of the new voters, most – 23,914 – were added in Badshapur assembly seat, followed by Gurgaon, which saw 18,891 new voters, and Sohna (7,378). The lowest additions, at 2,822, were in Pataudi. Badshapur, now has 5.2 lakh registered voters. This includes 2.75 lakh men, 2.45 lakh women and 17 transgender individuals.
The constituency had 4.97 lakh registered voters till May, when Lok Sabha elections were concluded. The Gurgaon assembly seat now has 4.43 lakh voters, including 2,3 lakh men, 2.11 lakh women and 21 transgender people. Sohna has 2.86 lakh voters, including 1.52 lakh men, 1.3 lakh women and 12 transgender people. And Pataudi has 2.54 lakh voters, among them 1.32 lakh men, 1.21 lakh women and 2 transgender people.
