ADC leaders from NE meet in Delhi, discuss greater autonomy

Mizoram’s Lai, Mara, and Chakma ADC leaders met 10 northeastern ADC representatives in New Delhi on greater autonomy under the Sixth Schedule, speedy development, and better coordination. They met at Sikkim House, discussed the 125th Constitution amendment, decided to submit their demands to the Centre, and planned to reconvene in Shillong in August.

AIZAWL: Leaders of three autonomous district councils from Mizoram - Lai, Mara and Chakma - attended a meeting of the representatives of 10 ADCs of the northeastern states in New Delhi on Monday.
Sources in the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) said the leaders deliberated on greater autonomy for the ADCs constituted under the sixth schedule of the Constitution and their speedy development.

Better coordination and cooperation to achieve their rightful place under the Constitution was also discussed. They have decided to submit their demands to the Centre.
On the eve of the meeting, the ADC leaders met at Sikkim House in Delhi and discussed the 125th amendment to the Constitution. They have agreed to meet again in Shillong in August to deliberate on these issues.
