In Udupi, a Mescom powerman alleged that a consumer attempted to attack him with a sickle after he disconnected the electricity supply due to an unpaid bill. The incident occurred while the powerman was en route to restore the service. A case has been registered at Byndoor Police Station.

UDUPI: A powerman has accused a Mescom consumer of attempting to attack him with a sickle. In his complaint, Masood, 48, a powerman at Mescom’s Byndoor branch, stated that he had disconnected the electricity supply to the house of Halamberi Nagaraj on Sept 21 due to an outstanding bill of Rs 3,096.
The following day, Nagaraj informed Masood over the phone that he had paid the outstanding amount and requested that the electricity be reconnected.

While Masood was on his way to restore the supply around 5.30pm, Nagaraj allegedly blocked the road by breaking glass bottles, verbally abused Masood and the branch officer, and brandished a sickle.
He is accused of attempting to attack Masood with the sickle, damaging his bike's mirror, and obstructing him from performing his duties.
A case has been registered at Byndoor Police Station under sections 132, 324(2), 352, and 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code.
