MADIKERI/MYSURU: An injured tiger from Nagarahole Tiger Reserve was captured, treated and shifted to Bannerghatta Biological Park on Saturday.
The big cat is believed to be 11-years-old. It was rescued in the Kuntur forest in the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve.
The tiger is suspected to have been injured in a territorial fight with another male tiger. The tiger was spotted on the Kutta-Ponnampet main road on Sept 16.
The forest department officials traced the movement of the tiger and launched a drive to rescue it. The operation was led by Nagarahole director PN Seema. Veterinarians Dr Ramesh and Dr Wasim Mirza assisted the foresters in sedating it. As it was found to be injured, the forest department decided to shift it to Bannerghatta Biological Park.
Foresters on Sunday said the tiger is recovering at Bannerghatta.
