App launched to minimise air pollution
Patna: Patna Women’s College (PWC), in collaboration with the Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB), celebrated International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies with great enthusiasm at a function held here on Saturday.
A ‘Clean Air Bihar’ app was also launched on the occasion. The android app developed by the board is meant for the people of three cities — Patna, Gaya and Muzaffarpur, who will be lodging their complaints related to air pollution from different sources and seeking remedial measures.

The app was launched virtually by the state’s environment, forest and climate change minister Prem Kumar.
The minister, in his address, highlighted the ongoing developmental activities in the state and underlined the measures initiated by the department to minimise the level of pollution. He appreciated the efforts being made by the BSPCB in the mitigation of air pollution and hoped that the pollution level in at least three cities would be controlled soon.
BSPCB chairman Devendra Kumar Shukla gave a brief description of the importance of the day of clean air with blue skies and asked the people to extend their cooperation in the successful implementation of govt initiatives for pollution control. BSPCB’s member secretary S Chandrashekhar provided an overview of the app’s features and the process of its installation.
PWC’s vice-principal Sister M Tanisha welcomed the guests and apprised the audience of the importance of blue sky for a clean environment. She thanked the officials of BSPCB for selecting the college as the venue for the app’s inauguration. The entire event was coordinated by PWC zoology department teacher Sumeet Ranajan. BSPCB scientist Naveen Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
