18 stray cattle killed in road mishap in Bilaspur

Raipur: Eighteen stray cattle were killed after a vehicle hit the herd on the Darrighat-Korba National Highway in the Masturi police station area of Bilaspur on Monday morning.
Villagers immediately informed the Masturi police, following which cops began the probe. Masturi police were scanning CCTV footage of the area.
The injured cattle were sent for treatment.
The Chhattisgarh high court has previously addressed the issue of stray cattle as a growing concern for public safety, the safety of the cattle, and road accidents. In various orders, the court has emphasised the responsibility of local authorities to manage and prevent the menace of stray cattle.
