The culprit took advantage of his disability and convinced the victim's mother to help him as he took her around," the DySP said.
The accused is a known figure in the village and had conducted a programme there a few months ago, where he came in touch with the victim's family. He is a resident of Ucharpi village of Mehsana taluka.
He came into contact with the victim and became friendly with her mother. He then took the victim on excursions on the Patan highway in a car and allegedly raped her in it. He repeated his crime three or four times and threatened to kill her parents if she told anyone.
The perpetrator also made a video of the rape and circulated it on social media. When the girl's father learned about the video, he asked her about it, and she told him the whole story. He then approached Chanasma police station and filed a complaint against Bhuvo Shankar Choudhary.
Chanasma police arrested the accused and sent him for a medical examination. The accused will be produced in court and remand will be sought, said police officer Sonal Chawda, the investigating officer of the case.
DySP D D Choudhary added that the accused has also been booked under Pocso and police have obtained the videos that went viral on social media, he said. tnn & agencies
