He directed the officials to finish the construction at all costs by the end of this month.
An official of the Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (JUIDCO) on Sunday said, “All the 42 spans and 486 segment boxes of the flyover have been put together. The laying of black top on the flyover lane has also been completed. Bituminous concrete and mastic asphalt layer works are under way to make the flyover motorable for traffic.”
The construction of the 2.4km flyover began in 2021 and was scheduled to be completed late last year. A total of Rs 203 crore has been invested in the project.
“While the approach road near Bahu Bazar is nearly complete, the load testing at the flyover will be carried out by a team of engineers from IIT-Mumbai and a Gujarat-based company this week,” JUIDCO’s public relations officer Ashutosh Kumar Singh said.
Chief minister Hemant Soren, who is scheduled to inaugurate the flyover, on Sunday tweeted photographs of the under-construction Siromtoli-Mecon Chowk Flyover from his ‘X’ handle. “We have done a lot of work on basic infrastructure of Ranchi and across the state over the past four-and-a-half years. Still, a lot is to be done in terms of infrastructure and we are bringing them up to speed. The pictures of Mecon-Siromtoli Flyover are very satisfying,” he posted on X.
