Thane: Chief Minister (CM) Eknath Shinde said the assured sum of money under his recent pet project - Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana - would be transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries before the Raksha Bandhan festival.
Shinde was speaking at the launch ceremony of his biography, Yodha Karmayogi: Eknath Sambhaji Shinde, in Thane by Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan recently.
Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were also present for the event. “We have received tremendous response to the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana in the state. However, you, the beneficiaries, should be wary of those ‘step-brothers’ (opposition parties) who didn’t expect and never wanted the project to become a success,” said Shinde, taking a dig at his detractors.
Meanwhile, the Thane Municipal Corporation announced that it had completed the eligibility scrutiny of nearly 95,000 applications received in the first phase of the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’ in a record time of three days.
In an unusual display of swiftly clearing files, teams comprising staff drawn from various departments were formed. They worked in three shifts for three days starting Saturday, August 3, following which the applications received from Thane, Navi Mumbai, and even Mira-Bhayender talukas were screened and cleared. As many as 137 help desks were created in all the nine administrative wards, and a special war room was set up in Wagle Estate to provide assistance for the applicants.
