Vijayawada: YSRCP leaders Devineni
Avinash and Talasila
Raghuram appeared at the Mangalagiri DSP office on Tuesday for questioning over their alleged involvement in the 2021 attack on the TDP central office.
Raghuram was interrogated first, at 10 am for an hour, followed by Avinash from 12 pm to 1:30 pm. Both leaders are said to have given vague answers, stating that they could not remember or have no knowledge of the incident.
When asked to hand over their mobile phones, they said they would do so only after obtaining permission from the court.
Both leaders denied any direct involvement in the incident, and claimed that the violence was carried out by party activists in response to criticism of YSRCP chief and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Mangalagiri DSP Murali Krishna, ASP Kolli Srinivasa Rao, and circle inspector Srinivas were involved in their questioning.
Earlier, in compliance with a Supreme Court order, Avinash, Raghuram, and Gavaskar surrendered their passports to the police on Sep 14. Lella Appireddy told the police he did not possess a passport. Former MP Nandigam Suresh was earlier arrested in connection with the case.
