Bengaluru: A complaint has been lodged against a content creator for allegedly defaming Bengaluru. Content creator Sugandha Sharma had hosted a video where she claims that Bengaluru would be empty and its pubs lose revenue if all the north Indians left the city, triggering widespread criticism and backlash from local communities.
Naveen Narasimha, a pro-Kannada activist, on Monday filed a complaint with Koramangala police against Sharma for her remarks.
Police have registered a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) and are currently trying to trace Sharma for further investigation.
Rupesh Rajanna, the state president of Yuva Karnataka Vedike, told TOI: "If you are living in Bengaluru, the least you can do is respect the state's language and culture. Do not demean it."
He further claimed that this was not the first time Sharma had made negative comments about the city and had been terminated by her employer for such remarks.
According to Rajanna, the latest controversial video was posted only five days ago.
