Shocking images of Delhi's IGI airport terminal 1 roof collapse during downpour

One person died and six others were injured after a portion of the roof of the Delhi airport's Terminal-1 fell on cars, including taxis, during heavy rainfall in the early hours of Friday.

The emergency response team, fire safety team, CISF, and NDRF teams were immediately dispatched to the site.

​The collapse involved not just the roof sheet but also the support beams, causing significant damage to cars parked in the pick-up and drop area of the terminal. The injured individuals have been hospitalized for treatment.

All departures from Terminal 1 have been halted until further notice, affecting domestic flights operated by IndiGo and SpiceJet.

Due to heavy rain since early this morning, a portion of the canopy at the old departure forecourt of Delhi airport's Terminal-1 collapsed around 5 am.

Civil Aviation Ministry and airport authorities are making arrangements to temporarily shift operations from T1 to T2 and T3 terminals.

Passengers are advised to check their flight statuses as cancellations and disruptions are expected across the airline networks.
