Timber logs, rope pieces recovered
Kozhikode: Logs of Acacia wood and pieces of the rope used to tie timber to the truck driven by Kozhikode native Arjun, who went missing after the Shirur landslide swept the vehicle away on July 16, were recovered from the Gangavali river in the search carried out using dredger vessel on Monday.
However, any major breakthrough in finding the truck or its cabin eluded even on the third day of the search using the dredger vessel.

Truck owner Manaf said that a small metal part — an angler — of a truck was recovered but it has yet to be confirmed whether it is of his vehicle.
"Though several metal parts including rear tyres of a truck were found, they were not of our vehicle. Also, though it was suspected that the rear crash guard of our truck was recovered, it turned out to be a part of a barricade put up on the side of the road," Manaf said.
Karwar MLA Satish Krishna Sail, district administration authorities and police officials visited the spot and reviewed the search operations.
Sail said that the search operations using the dredger would continue. He added that Tuesday's operations will depend on weather conditions as there is a red alert for heavy rainfall in the area.
Major general (retd) M Indrabalan, who had led the earlier search using IBOD technology, reached the spot to provide the dredging team with details of the spot where they had found maximum signal indicating the presence of the submerged truck.
Meanwhile, district administration authorities took the sister and brother-in-law of Arjun, who have been staying at Shirur for the last four days expecting that the search using dredger would help in finding his truck, to the dredger in the evening and briefed them about the action plan for the coming days.
