Ludhiana: A 25-year-old man, who along with his brothers was assaulted by a group of youngsters from the same locality they lived in, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital late Thursday night.
The accused had assaulted the victim and his two brothers with sharp-edged weapons after barging into their house in Sunet village on Wednesday night.
The accused and the victim had a rivalry for the past two years.
The deceased has been identified as Veerpal Singh, 25, and the injured as his brothers Kuldeep Singh and Gurwinder Singh. The police, on the complaint of their father Kala Singh, have registered a case against accused Shammi, Hardeep Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Kala Singh and Jagga.
In his statement to the police, Kala Singh said the accused thrashed his son Kuldeep near their house. He rushed to the spot, rescued his son and took him home. However, the accused chased them. Now, the police have added a murder section in the case.
