Fire breaks out at ayurvedic hospital under renovation in Udupi
Udupi: A fire broke out at an ayurvedic hospital under renovation near Doddanagudde on Monday. District fire officer (DFO) Vinayak U Kalgutkar said the fire originated in a ground-plus-three-floor building. The incident occurred in a room on the ground floor filled with beds and wooden materials. A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.

The entire building was reportedly engulfed in smoke.
The Udupi Fire Station received a distress call around 7.36am, and firefighters promptly initiated firefighting operations, including water spraying, to contain the blaze. During the fire, two individuals reportedly jumped from the first floor to escape but fortunately did not sustain injuries. No casualties were reported, he said.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the damage could amount to approximately Rs 25 lakh, though the exact losses are yet to be confirmed. Firefighting efforts involved two fire tenders from Fire Malpe and Udupi, with a team of 15 personnel working to extinguish the fire. Senior officials, including chief fire officer of Mangaluru BM Thirumalesh, DFO Vinayak U Kalgutkar, assistant fire station officer Ravindra and other staff members, were present at the scene.
