Nagpur: Union home minister
Amit Shah will hold a pivotal meeting with BJP leaders in Nagpur on Tuesday afternoon, in light of the forthcoming assembly election. The Lok Sabha setback for BJP in Maharashtra earlier this year has served as a wake-up call for the saffron party, and consequently, party bigwigs are descending upon the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Wardha a few days ago and will return soon to the Pohradevi shrine in Washim district on October 5.
On Tuesday, Shah will arrive at Nagpur airport around 2pm and straightaway proceed to Suresh Bhatt Hall at Reshimbagh to address BJP cadres.
City police have declared a ‘no drone zone' in Nagpur commissionerate limits on Tuesday during Shah's visit. The order will be in place from Monday midnight till Tuesday midnight.
Shah is also expected to deliberate on the potential seat sharing between Mahayuti alliance partners – Shiv Sena and NCP led by Ajit Pawar – in Vidarbha and particularly in Nagpur, as BJP's city and rural units are reluctant to concede any seat to them, citing their lack of base. Conversely, CM Eknath Shinde Sena had already staked claim to Ramtek and Umred seats, while NCP (AP) had initiated preparations in Nagpur West, Katol, and Hingna seats, as previously reported by TOI.
The meeting will be attended by BJP's national and state office-bearers, along with leaders from various party wings, district heads, former and current MPs and MLAs, and members of the zilla parishad and local bodies.
The gathering will also include seven district wing presidents, assembly coordinators, district in-charges, and prominent party workers from Vidarbha.
