Madhu, also known as Madhavan Nair, turned 91 on Monday. The day was a quiet one at his residence in Kannammoola in the capital, with no grand celebrations planned. However, the Malayalam film fraternity and fans extended their heartfelt wishes to the senior actor, celebrating his illustrious career spanning over six decades.

Suresh Gopi visited Madhu's home to wish him personally.
Gopi and his wife Radhika felicitated the actor with a drape while Madhu presented the minister with a golden ring. Madhu has also given the consent to celebrate his birthday grandly by the Malayalam film fraternity on his Malayalam birth date next month.

Mammootty and
Mohanlal took to social media to convey their birthday greetings. Mohanlal shared a photo with Madhu on his FB page, along with a message: "A thousand birthday wishes to dear Madhu Sir." He also shared the link to the actor's new website, ‘www.madhutheactor.com', which was launched on Monday. The website, created by Madhu's daughter Uma and son-in-law Krishnakumar, highlights the actor's 61-year contribution to cinema. It features over 450 photographs, 150 hit songs, Madhu's biography, interviews, and articles by notable personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Mammootty, Mohanlal, Kamal Haasan, Sreekumaran Thampi, M T Vasudevan Nair, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Sheela, Sharada, and Sathyan Anthikad. Mammootty shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, referring to Madhu as "My Superstar".
Cultural affairs minister Saji Cherian also took to Facebook, praising Madhu for his unique acting style and calling him "an acting wonder who captured the love of Kerala."
A prominent lead actor during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, Madhu has acted in more than 400 films. He was awarded the Padma Shri by the govt of India in 2013 and was honoured with the J C Daniel Award by the state govt in 2004.
