FFI President laughs off Veer Savarkar's makers' claim that the Randeep Hooda starrer has been ‘officially’ submitted to the Oscars

Confusion arose when the creators of 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' announced its Oscar submission on Instagram, leading many to believe it was India's official entry. The Film Federation of India clarified that only 'Laapataa Ladies' is officially submitted. Co-producer Anand Pandit insists their film was submitted by FFI, despite conflicting information and missing social media updates from director Randeep Hooda.
FFI President laughs off Veer Savarkar's makers' claim that the Randeep Hooda starrer has been ‘officially’ submitted to the Oscars
Regarding the Oscar submission for the Randeep Hooda-directed movie ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’, there appears to be some uncertainty. The film's creators created a stir on Tuesday morning when they revealed on Instagram that the movie had been "officially submitted for Oscars." Many people mistakenly thought that Swatantrya Veer Savarkar was India's official Oscar entry after reading the post, which thanked the Film Federation of India (FFI) for the "remarkable appreciation."
On Monday, the FFI declared that ‘Laapataa Ladies’ was India's official Oscar submission for this year.

During a conversation with HT City, Ravi Kottakara, FFI President, talked about the confusion. He laughed and clarified, "They (the makers of Savarkar) have given some wrong communication. I am going to release a statement about it as well. Only Laapataa Ladies has been sent for Oscars from India officially."
The co-producer of ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’, Anand Pandit asserted that the film had really been submitted by the FFI. “I didn’t know when the film was submitted; I was told about it on Monday. Going to the Oscars is a big milestone. I am, of course, very happy,” he said.
It's interesting to note that the movie that was "officially" submitted to the Oscars was promoted on Instagram through a joint post by co-producer Sandeep Singh, actor Ankita Lokhande, and the production houses that backed the movie. The film's director and star, Randeep Hooda, did not, however, post any updates on social media.
A source close to the matter made a comment in the meantime, saying, "This is very shady. Even a quote attributed to Randeep (Hooda) was given out in press releases when he has not given a quote."
